Self-esteem: We all have some of it, a lot of us may not have enough of it. So what exactly is it? How do we support young people in developing it? This package contains resources, Jewish texts, peulot (activities) and educational material about the topic of self esteem. What is good self esteem and how do we promote it in young people? What does Judaism have to say about self esteem? There is an activity using the film the Wizard of Oz to explore different types of self esteem. There is also an activity looking at Jews in Hollywood and the idea of self expression. There are a range of Jewish sources and activities (including excerpts from JLEC publication 'Torat Chayim' Jewish Sources on Social Welfare). The contents of this package can be used when working with young people to create space for them to explore these issues. Give it a go, it will make you feel good!

What is life like for the Lion who feels he lacks courage, the Tin Man who thinks he doesn't have a heart, the scarecrow who thinks he has no brain. Get to know these characters to see what you can learn about self esteem.
This is a peula (activity) which can be run for groups of young people to learn a bit about some of their favourite Hollywood stars and think about what it might be like to be an actor and pretend to be someone else. Using drama, arts and crafts and Jewish texts, this activity can help young people express themselves and learn to feel comfortable in their own skin.
