Beat Bullying

This package contains a range of information about what bullying is, the different forms it can take and some ideas and strategies for how to deal with bullying. There are also some Jewish texts exploring how we manage our anger and how we treat others, as well as some activities to run with young people.

1. Jewish sources on bullying

These are some Jewish texts on the theme of bullying and anger. They explore issues around how we manage our anger and how we respond to bullying. Texts include 'Winding up Hillel' - what can we learn from how the great sage responded to provocation? These can be used as part of an activity or to initiate conversation with groups of young people on the topic of bullying, anger, group dynamics and interpersonal relationships.

2. Labels - the bully & the victim

These are some texts, images and discussion questions which explore some typical understandings of what a bully and a victim might feel. Can we unpack these labels, to help us empathise and resolve conflicts?

5. Bullying - hadracha scenarios

This is a series of possible bullying scenarios which could occur amongst groups of young people. These can be used as a hadracha training resource - madrichim can discuss how they would deal with these situations.

6. The 'No Blame' Approach

This is an explanation of the 'No Blame' Approach to dealing with bullying. It is a resource designed to inform senior leaders about possible interventions they might chose to make to tackle bullying when it occurs.

7. Status Quo - Group Activity

This is the outline of an activity (based around the popular teen film High School Musical) which you can run with groups of young people. This activity will help young people explore issues around group dynamics and how they respond when someone challenges the 'status quo' of their group.
